First security industry charity hockey classic

Toronto, Canada

Mission 500 is expanding its fundraising activities to help children in need with the scheduling of the first annual Security Industry Hockey Classic.

Confirmed for February 18, 2016 at York University in Toronto, Canada, the event will feature two hockey games followed by an awards ceremony and banquet. Proceeds from the event will go to World Vision’s programming to help children and families living in poverty in Canada and around the globe

“Mission 500’s Security Industry Hockey Classic is a great way for Canada’s security industry to come together, lace up their skates and have some fun - all while raising money for children in need,” said Paul Grossinger, Group Publisher, SP&T News and Canadian Security. “I know the industry will get behind this and look to make it an annual event."

The event, with hockey games scheduled at 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm, is structured similarly to this past summer’s Security Industry Softball Game held in New Jersey and will feature retired professional hockey players. Sponsorships are available and current sponsors include ADI Global, Axis Communications, Automatic Systems, Mircom Group of Companies, Pelco by Schneider Electric, Samsung Techwin, SP&T News, Canadian Security and Tyco Security Products.

In addition to participating in and raising money for this and other Mission 500 events, security industry professionals can support Mission 500 in a variety of ways, including volunteering to help with the Security 5K/2K at ISC West 2016 or making financial donations. All donations are tax deductible and can be made with major credit cards.

Now in its eight year, Mission 500 has worked to focus security industry efforts to aid children through World Vision. World Vision, Mission 500’s parent entity, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children, families and their communities worldwide by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision and Mission 500 work in partnership in the U.S and around the world.
