Locktalk Data Center integrates biometrics with electronic locking

Richardson, Tx

Methode Data Solutions Group, a unit of Methode Electronics, Inc., is launching the Locktalk Data Center security access control system.
This latest innovation in access authorisation and control features the Methode-developed Biosig and door lock mapping technologies that integrate fingerprint biometric access authentication with electronically controlled locking and unlocking at the cabinet door level within the data centre floor.

The Locktalk Data Center security access control system features a touchscreen-driven mapping and access system to enable user interaction with the data centrefacilities. The Locktalk system is unique in that it uses Lumidigm Inc.’s Mercury Biometric Sensors to provide multispectral imaging that can capture biometric images from any person in any type of environmental conditions, whereas other fingerprint sensors are sometimes vulnerable to moisture, ambient light, and topical contaminants.

Data centre administrators can choose from a variety of electronically controlled lock systems to match the door types and styles in their facilities, whether they are access doors to data centre rooms or doors on individual server, storage, or networking cabinetry. Additionally, Methode’s Biosig software allows administrators to integrate the various physical aspects of their security setups and provides security profiles with logs that detail time opened, latch states, and lock states.
