Automatic systems barriers at highway toll in Spain

Automatic Systems BL229 barriers in action in Spain

Automatic Systems, specialists in the automation of secure entrance control, have been awarded a contract by Abertis Autopistas to supply 601 barriers for toll applications in Spain.

Abertis Autopistas is an international market leader in the management of toll roads as well as terrestrial and satellite telecommunication infrastructures. In Spain, the company has managed many highway projects along the whole territory.

Automatic Systems' barriers, 495 barriers BL 229 and 106 barriers BL 229 Toll, will serve the Toll Highway Network in the Catalonia region and the highways around Barcelona, Girona and Tarragona.

The delivery of the barriers is expected to be completed by July this year.

"Automatic Systems has been working directly with Abertis Autopistas since 2013 in various highway toll projects across Spain and we are delighted to have been selected to complete another project with the company. Over the years, Automatic Systems has participated in numerous projects in the Spanish highways market and today our barriers can be found across the whole peninsula", Javier Martinez - Automatic Systems' Regional Director, Spain.

While the BL 229-type barriers will be used to grant access to the highways, the BL 229 Toll barriers are instead used to allow exiting from the highways.
