New high power CCTV PSU range

Elmdene's new range of Powerpods

Norbain is now offering two additional PSU devices from Elmdene: the PoE Powerpod and Minipod, which when used together offer an all in one battery backed power solution for PoE systems and their recording equipment.

As PoE devices become more critical within a security system that has added features such as detection analytics, it is paramount to have standby power in the event of a mains failure either from a malicious or natural occurrence. Currently, it is common for a PoE installation to have either no provision for standby power or for a standard ‘off the shelf’ inline UPS to be used which may result in no recording or very minimal backup times.

Elmdene’s PoE Powerpod and Minipod offer a simple, cost-effective solution providing extended backup times of approximately 4-hours to the critical devices and NVR.

The PoE Powerpod is a PSU powered by 230V AC, providing 8 channels of compliant PoE+ as well as a data connection and power to an NVR (230V AC UK socket provided). On an input power failure, the 230V AC output and Ethernet switch remain backed up for approximately 4-hours by the Powerpod, allowing data to be continually recorded, without any losses from critical devices out in the field, which are automatically backed up by local PoE Minipods.

In addition, the PoE Powerpod-RM is a 19” rack mount version of the above, offering the same functionality but housed within a high-quality 4U rack, which includes space for the two 12V standby batteries.

The PoE Minipod is a compliant PoE PSU powered by a single PoE+ signal from the Powerpod. From this single PoE input, it charges a 12V 7Ah battery, whilst also providing a PoE+ output, of up to 14W, to the powered device. Housed within an IP66 enclosure it is provided with a lockable hinged lid and also two IP67 RJ45 cable glands for simple plug-in connections.
